THE Intermediate Court yesterday adjourned a gang robbery case to March 13 to allow for the prosecution to assess new evidence.
Bangladeshis Maruf Ahmed Choudhury, 32, Md Hasan Mondol, 23, and Shohag Mia, 31, and Md Shaheb Ali, a 29-year-old Brunei permanent resident are now represented by defence counsel Robin Cheok. They are charged with stealing two gas cylinders, a stove, a fan and a rice cooker, following a confrontation which left the victim in fear on February 15 at Kampong Tanjong Maya.
The prosecution alleged the defendants robbed an acquaintance’s house and made off with his household appliances after failing to extort money from him. The charge carries a penalty of up to 30 years’ jail and a minimum 12 strokes of the cane.
DPP Nor Hafizah binti Ahmad prosecuted the case before Intermediate Court Judge Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Haji Kefli yesterday.
