Staff and residents participated in fun games and health-focussed activities during the two-day Family Carnival Day in Kuala Belait.

Suri Seri Begawan Hospital, Kuala Belait in collaboration with Rosnah Yusof & Sons (RYS) Entertainment organised the event which began on Saturday, where over 20 vendors set up stalls and car booths in the hospital’s parking lot.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Dr Ang Swee Hui, the guest of honour yesterday, was welcomed by Acting Chief Executive Officer Mohamad Alikhan bin Haji Mohd Yakop.

Some highlights during the visit were the 15-kilometre cyclethon and the three-kilometre fun run, flagged off by the guest of honour after an early morning aerobic session.

More than 50 cyclists and 200 runners participated in the cyclethon and fun run.

The guest of honour also participated in the fun run, as well as various games and activities, with prizes and gifts for winners.

The deputy permanent secretary also oversaw a BND1,000 donation collected from the public and vendors handed to the hospital’s Tabung Amal Bantuan Pesakit (Patient’s Charity Aid Fund) on behalf of the donors by Acting Belait District Officer Mohamad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed and received by Mohamad Alikhan.

Held in conjunction with the hospital’s 50th anniversary celebration, the Family Carnival Day was one of the events to enliven the celebratory atmosphere at the hospital in marking the milestone.

In addition, the health activities also aimed to support the MoH’s effort to achieve the ‘20 Billion Steps Together Challenge’ in the BruHealth app.

Other activities conducted as part of the hospital’s 50th anniversary include health and medical services exhibitions, a blood donation campaign, and health and dental screening.
