THE Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) yesterday held a closing ceremony for the Khatam Al-Quran at the Surau of its headquarters in Old Airport, Berakas.

The closing ceremony took place alongside the celebration for new Muslim converts and presentation of donations to orphans of officers and staff of the department.

The event began with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and recitation of Takhtim and Doa Khatam, followed by Dikir Marhaban to celebrate Nur Aleesya Qaisara binti Abdullah Imau’s recent conversion to Islam.

Nur Aleesya Qaisara is a personnel of the department’s Operation Centre.

The event proceeded with the presentation of donations to 49 orphans by Acting Director of Fire and Rescue Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said to lessen their burdens for the preparations of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The FRD also reminded the public to stay safe during the celebration and advised families to switch off all electrical appliances if not used or in idle to prevent overloading of electrical circuits, as well as to turn off and disconnect the gas regulator heads of their cooking gas cylinders to prevent gas leakages.
