Four Thai women nabbed for trying to smuggle petrol

SONGKHLA (Bernama) – The Thai army has arrested four Thai women in an operation in Danok, in the district of Sadao, for attempting to smuggle 2,300 litres of petrol into the country.

The women, aged between 33 and 62, were driving a vehicle each when they were stopped at a road block at about 5pm.

The petrol tanks of the vehicles had been modified to take 500 litres of petrol each, Colonel Woradej Dejraksa of the Fifth Infantry Regiment told reporters yesterday. He said the suspects were stopped because they were driving their vehicles in a suspicious manner.

Also found in all the four vehicles was a container filled with 300 litres of petrol, he added.
