FOUR Thai teachers from Islamsriayuthaya School in Ayutthaya Province, Bangkok are in the country to participate in the teacher exchange programme between the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) and the Teachers’ Council of Thailand (Khurusapha).

The exchange programme is a collaboration agreement between PGGMB and Khurusapha to swap their teachers to teach at schools of their host countries.

The Khurusapha participants arrived last Saturday and were welcomed with a briefing session hosted by PGGMB at its headquarters in the capital.

PGGMB’s President Haji Antin bin Ahad and the association’s executive members attended the briefing.

During the briefing, the Thai participants were briefed on where they will be attached to PGGMB’s schools throughout the four districts to teach English and Science subjects.

The Thai teachers also visited PGGMB schools in Sungai Akar, Madang and Lambak.

Earlier this week, three PGGMB schools teachers who participated in the teachers exchange programme returned home after successfully completing a two-week teaching attachment at the school in Bangkok.

The collaboration between PGGMB and Khurusapha was marked with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement in January this year.

Aside from enabling the teachers to gain a better understanding of their teaching method and culture of other ASEAN member countries, this long-term educational collaboration is also aimed at bringing benefits to both sides, especially in implementing efforts towards developing mutual educational cooperation in the area of teachers’ professional development within a foreign country.

This initiative is to be extended to other ASEAN member countries.
