“We are inspired by the dedication and passion demonstrated by these young leaders, and we believe their actions will inspire positive change across the nation.”

The BIBD Sustainability Youth Leadership Award, a collaboration between BIBD, Wawasan Brunei Secretariat Office under the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and Green Brunei as representatives of the Brunei Youth Council, is aimed at empowering the youth to lead the charge in achieving Brunei Vision 2035 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As the first of its kind in the country, the award honours the efforts of bold youth committed to fostering a sustainable and inclusive society, said the bank.

Each of the groups were evaluated by a panel of judges from BIBD, the SDG Unit of the Wawasan Brunei Secretariat Office and the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat under the Prime Minister’s Office, the MCYS and Green Brunei.

The four groups are now on a six-month implementation phase of their projects.

After the implementation phase, BIBD will evaluate the projects to award The BIBD Sustainability Youth Leadership Award – Most Inspiring Male Leader and Most Inspiring Female Leader with a BIBD Aspirasi Account (Certificate of Deposit) worth BND1,000 and ‘The Best Overall Sustainability Project’ with a prize of BND3,000, recognising the project’s impact through their execution and how it potentially created a lasting change, said the bank.

As Brunei makes strides towards a sustainable future, the BIBD Sustainability Youth Leadership Award ceremony stands as a testament to the nation’s collective efforts and commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders through a whole-of-nation action approach, said the bank. – Azlan Othman
