Four orphans receive scholarships

The Community Development Department (JAPEM) presented scholarships to four selected orphans to participate in Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Advocating Life-Long Learning for an Aspiring Future (ALAF) Programme.

The scholarships, funded by the orphans fund under JAPEM, were presented by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad in a ceremony at the ministry.

Permanent Secretary (Community) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari and Acting Director of JAPEM Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh were also present at the ceremony.

The Orphans Scholarship began in February 7, 2022 and is aimed at increasing the impact and objective of the orphans fund.

Through this initative, donations from the public will help fund studies through the BIBD ALAF programme until the completion of ‘O’ Level examinations.

To date, six students have been selected for the programme. – James Kon
