Forum highlights COVID-19 impact on nation

The event committee of the Knowledge Convention 2020 Programme held a forum, Hikmah Wabak COVID-19, alongside exhibitions at the Kuala Belait Convention Hall which began yesterday and continues today from 9am to 4.30pm.

The programme is a collaborative work between committee members from the Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Iswandy bin Ahmad was the guest of honour, accompanied by Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin.

Takmir committee members from mosques across the district, representatives from government and private agencies, students and teachers from Sayyidina Ali Secondary School, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School and Perdana Wazir Secondary School were also present. Event Chairman and MoRA Religious Development Officer Haji Fansuri Sharimi @ Mansur bin Muhamad Ali said the forum touched on topics such as the COVID-19 pandemic to raise awareness on its impact on the nation as well as impart wisdom and efforts to curb its spread from an Islamic perspective.

UNISSA Director of the Public and International Relations Centre Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam and MoH Medical Officer Dr Haji Muhammad Norizni bin Haji Mosli were among the panellists.

The attendees also raised their concerns on issues they have encountered, during the questions-and-answer session.

The next forum, ‘Cancer: Prevention and Treatment’, will be held at the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque, Kampong Serusop tomorrow.
