The French Bruneian Business Association (FBBA) hosted a business forum on HSE titled ‘Resilience is Being Prepared, the SHENA Story’ at the Mutiara Function Room, Radisson Hotel yesterday.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy (ME) Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, who is also the Interim CEO of the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), delivered the introductory address.

Members of the Diplomatic Corps, government and educational institutions, FBBA members and guests attended the talk.

The event was hosted with SHENA to provide a platform to engage with stakeholders and raise awareness on issues pertaining to workplace safety and health in pursuit to make Brunei Darussalam a safe place to work and live.

The forum commenced with a welcoming address from French Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam and Patron of FBBA Christian Ramage and a speech by FBBA Interim President Pierre Imhof.

FBBA as a bilateral business association has taken stride to provide a network for members to be informed and as a vehicle for the sharing of economic and business interests.

The forum is a privilege by which communication gaps within the public and private sectors could be bridged with ongoing exchanges especially in lieu of the recent enactment of the Health, Safety and Environment National Authority Order.

The audience was presented with information on SHENA by Chief Inspector (Industry) at SHENA Captain Jaime Rebelo and Radiation Department Director Zubaidah binti Haji Mahmud who touched on radiation safety.

The forum concluded with an interactive panel discussion and exchange of information through a question-and-answer session to understand the enactment of the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority Order 2018.
