Former DPMM FC midfielder Blake Ricciuto has completed his move to Velez CF after the Spanish fourth tier club announced his signing for the 2020/2021 season recently.

Ricciuto left DPMM FC at the end of last season after winning the Singapore Premier League title.

The Australian-Uruguayan will now play in the Tercera Division next season, the fourth level of Spanish football system.

Spanish outfit Velez CF said, “With Blake, we get a central midfielder who can contribute well both in attack and defence.

“He is Australian and of Uruguayan descent so he speaks English and Spanish.

“Blake has experience from different leagues and has always been an important player on and off the field. He also works hard and is professional and friendly.”

The 28-year-old made an immediate impact in Brunei during his time with the Gegar Gegar men and became a hit with the supporters for his powerful runs from midfield. Ricciuto was awarded the AIA Singapore Premier League Player of the Month following a series of stellar performances in April last year.

His goal during the 7-1 win against Balestier Khalsa was also voted the Mitre Singapore Goal of the Month.

The central midfielder arrived in the sultanate alongside defender Charlie Clough and forward Andrei Varankou last year as DPMM FC initiated the search for foreign imports to bolster the squad in the 2019 campaign.

He started regularly for the Brunei-based outfit as part of the engine room that controlled the midfield and scored nine goals in 23 appearances. Ricciuto began his senior career in 2009 with St George FC, a club which competed in the National Premier League NSW 2 in Australia where he registered two goals in 41 appearances.

After spending two years with the club, he moved to Penarol and was immediately sent on a season-long loan to Canadian Soccer Club in the Uruguayan Segunda Division. The midfielder returned to Australia in 2016 and played for the Rockdale City Suns, scoring seven goals in 66 league appearances before moving to Brunei.
