Foreigners probed over immigration violations

A foreign “construction labourer” was found violating Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Act and Regulations, Chapter 17 of not working with the original employer.

The worker was questioned during a routine inspection by the personnel of Law Enforcement Section of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), Kuala Belait and was ordered to report to the Kuala Belait Immigration Enforcement Section office for further investigation and action.

The worker was found last Tuesday evening during inspections carried out by four immigration enforcement officers led by a senior immigration officer.

Meanwhile another two foreigners are being investigated under the Immigration Act and Regulation, Chapter 17. They have also been asked to report to the Kuala Belait Immigration Enforcement Section office while their employers and a restaurant owner were also summoned for further investigation.

The department said they welcome public tip-off related to immigration law offenders. and that the information and the name of the informant will be kept confidential.
