Foreigners held for immigration offence

The enforcement officers of Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) conducted ‘Ops Pumpung’ at a new housing construction project in Sungai Teraban in the Belait District.

Eleven personnel inspected 53 foreign workers, where 18 were detained and investigated under Immigration Act and Regulations, Chapter 17 and asked to report to the Enforcement Division for investigation. One of the workers failed to show valid immigration pass.

Meanwhile, an operation was also conducted on Brunei waters targetting fish farming sites in Pelumpong island in Muara involving eight enforcement officers.

Seven foreign workers were inspected and detained under the Immigration Act and Regulations, Chapter 17. Their employer was also called to assist in the investigation.

A barrel rifle was found at the foreign workers quarters and the case was forwarded to the Fisheries Department enforcement officers.
