THE Immediate Response Squad Unit of the Belait Police District Headquarters detained a male foreigner during a ‘stop and search’ patrol in the vicinity of Simpang 201, Jalan Kecil, Kampong Sungai Bakong in Lumut.
The suspect was 37-year-old Bangladeshi Joynal Abdin.
During the inspection, the police found the suspect with restricted items such as two cartons and four boxes of cigarettes. The suspect and the confiscated items were brought to a nearby police station and will be handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) reminded Bruneians and foreigners to always adhere to any laws in the country. The RBPF will not hesitate and act strictly to anyone found bringing any restricted goods to the country.
