Foreign community joins National Day celebration

The joyous atmosphere of the 36th National Day celebration was also shared by members of a number of foreign nationals’ associations who participated in the grand parade yesterday.

The Indonesian Community Association in Brunei Darussalam (PERMAI) was among the participants of the event.

President of PERMAI Mohiddin bin Omar as leader of the contingent said the association participates in the National Day event every year.

The contingent was represented by 140 participants that comprising the Indonesian community working and residing in the Sultanate. Apart from featuring their parade-uniformed attire, the Indonesian community also wore a variety of their traditional costumes symbolising different types of culture and colours of Indonesia. Their participation also aimed to forge friendly ties and cooperation between both countries.

The Indian Chamber of Commerce led by its President Nazeer Ahmad Zakaria with a strength of 120 members also participated.

The parade served as medium for members of the association to deliver their gratitude to Brunei Government and share the spirit of National Day.
