For a greener, cleaner National Day

Lyna Mohamad

Green Brunei, with support from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), organised the 4th Plastic Bottle-Free City Campaign during the 39th National Day celebration on Thursday.

Green Brunei provided four water dispenser stations along the parade route to Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, which was offered free for public use and saw 1,186 cups distributed as well as reusable bottles brought by the public to fill with drinking water.

The initiative not only helped reduce the use of plastic bottles during the celebration, but also supported the ‘Plastic Bottle-Free Initiative’ of the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe), Ministry of Development introduced in June 2018 and the Green Protocol launched by the ministry on January 30, 2021.
