Citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam must adhere to all instructions and guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health (MoH), to prevent a full lockdown, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar.
The minister was responding to a question on whether the government would need to tighten health restrictions, in view of emerging COVID-19 cases from local businesses.
“At present, the measures being applied by the government are quite restricted and almost in a stage of partial lockdown,” he said.
The minister also said, “Currently, everyone is advised to go out only when necessary. To take this further will involve a total lockdown.
“To carry out or implement a lockdown is far from easy, as it means no movement for least a month. No one will be allowed to send food or go to work for a month.
“Not only will this take a toll on the economy, but on mental health, as well. We wish to avoid a full lockdown, since it will have an adverse impact on many.”
