The meetings were hosted by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training in its capacity as chair of the meetings this year, themed ‘Joint Efforts to Reimagine Learning and Building Resilience of Education Systems in ASEAN and beyond in the New Context’.

During the meeting, the ministers were updated on the development of initiatives, work plans and activities under the education sector of ASEAN carried out by member countries and organisations.

Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah also briefed the meeting on Brunei Darussalam’s Ministry of Education (MoE) Digital Transformation Plan which focusses on three main areas: education technology; management technology; and enabling policies and infrastructure. The plan aims to ensure, among others, that digital learning will continue to be a norm in the education system.

The meetings also saw the endorsement of the Declaration on Digital Transformation of Education Systems in ASEAN to be presented for adoption at the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits.

The Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE and officials from the ministry accompanied the minister.
