One hundred and fourteen heads of families affected by floods in the Tutong District in December 2020 and January 2021 received financial aid from the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday.
The financial aid was provided through the Community Development Department (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) allocation at the Tutong District Civic Centre.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin presented the aid.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Saidah binti Haji Wahid also attended.
JAPEM Acting Deputy Director Mirany Floridzah binti Abdul Rahman noted that in seeing the need to urgently distribute the financial aid to the victims, the ministry through JAPEM is working towards updating the investigation and payment process.
“Efforts such as this will not be possible without the assistance and cooperation from agencies such as the District Offices and the Ministry of Home Affairs as well as penghulus and village heads,” she said.
The ceremony saw BND57,000 distributed to heads of families from 13 villages in the Tutong District.
The recent flood affected nine houses in Mukim Pekan Tutong and other mukims – Kiudang, Tanjong Maya, Lamunin, Ukong and Rambai.
