Flag hoisting ceremonies were held in mukims nationwide recently in conjunction with the 39th National Day celebration this year.
Organised by Mukim Mentiri and mukims in Zone 3 of the Brunei-Muara District, the ceremony was held at the RPN Kampong Mentiri Community Hall yesterday.
Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Lawi bin Haji Lamat was present.
A group of four-wheel drive car owners handed over the national flag to the Acting Penghulu of Mukim Mentiri and later to Yang Berhormat Lawi.
Members of National Service Programme (PKBN) alumni hoisted the national flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Yang Berhormat Lawi later flagged off the convoy of four-wheel cars who brought the national flag.
Mukim Liang Consultative Council and residents also conducted a flag hoisting ceremony yesterday.
LegCo member and Mukim Bukit Sawat Penghulu Yang Berhormat Salleh bin Haji Othman, the guest of honour, was accompanied by the acting penghulu and village heads from the surrounding area.
The guest of honour handed over the national flag to MPM Liang members who hoisted the flag, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem.
The ceremony concluded with a Silat performance led by the Pertubuhan Seni Warisan Pelangi.
Meanwhile, a flag hoisting ceremony took place at Gerai Simpang 51, STKRJ Kampong Rimba on Thursday. Mukim Gadong ‘B’ Acting Penghulu Haji Adanan bin Haji Bagol and villagers attended the ceremony.
Also on Thursday, Zone 2 of Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and ‘B’ held a flag hoisting ceremony at the Community Hall I of the RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan in Berakas.
Kampong Lambak ‘B’ Village Head and Chairperson of the organising committee Pengiran Jofri bin Pengiran Haji Zaidi handed over the national flag to Section 3 of RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan former village head Haji Mahir bin Mohd Yusof.
The flag was hoisted by three members of the Lambak ‘B’ Village Council and concluded with a Doa recited by Village Head of Section 5, RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Haji Hamidi bin Haji Abdul Wahid.
Also present were members of Kampong Lambak Youth Association, PERBEKAL, as well as village heads of Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and ‘B’.
Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) held a flag-hoisting ceremony at the university campus on Thursday.
UTB Vice-Chancellor Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman officiated the ceremony.
Also present were the Assistant Vice-Chancellors, UTB’s Principal Officers, staff and students.
Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah presented the national flag to the Flag-Hoisting Lead, 92187 SSJN KT Md Norjazlan Waie bin Josri.
The UTB Army Cadet member hoisted the flag while the national anthem was sung.
