Five held for gambling

FOUR men and a woman were detained for SCR888 gambling by personnel of Gambling Suppression and Anti-Vice Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) on Wednesday.

The police raided a house at Kampong Perpindahan STKRJ Katok ‘B’ in Gadong and found the suspects, who are locals and permanent residents.

Five computers containing the SCR888 gambling programme and cash were seized. The suspects and the evidence were brought to the CID for further investigation.

The case will be investigated under Section 4 of the Common Gambling Houses Act, Chapter 28, which carries a penalty of BND20,000 and 12 months’ imprisonment, and Section 6(1) for people participating in gambling, which carries a penalty of BND10,000 and imprisonment of six months.

The RBPF will continue to monitor, trace and detect criminals involved in illegal activities in this country.
