THE Haj Management Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs held the first session of the Haj Basic Course for 1440H/2019 simultaneously in all four districts yesterday.
In the Brunei-Muara District, the course was held at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong, the Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop, the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Mentiri and the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Kampong Sengkurong.
In the Tutong, Belait and Temburong districts, the course was held at the Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam Mosque in Kampong Sengkarai, the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait and the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Pekan Bangar, respectively.
The session was conducted by seven facilitators, including officers from the Haj Management Department, Mosque Affairs Department and the Islamic Da’wah Centre, as well as pensioners with extensive knowledge and experience in Haj affairs.
The course is offered free of charge to members of the public, particularly intending pilgrims, those who have registered to perform the Haj and those already inscribed on a waiting list.
Hajah Salina binti Haji Laini, who attended the session at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah with her husband and four children, said that she was glad at the opportunity to perform the Haj with the entire family this time.
“The first time I went on Haj with my husband was in 1994,” she said. “This year, we will be going together with our children.
“Alhamdulillah, this course offers a good study aid for me and my husband to improve and perfect our religious devotions. Also, this is a good opportunity for our children to prepare themselves for the journey ahead and to gain more in-depth knowledge about the Haj.” The course will be held for five more sessions on January 20 and 27, and on February 3, 10 and 17 from 8am-10am.
