THE first group of Haj pilgrims from Brunei Darussalam departed for Madinah yesterday, on board Royal Brunei Airlines Flight BI4201.
The flight carried 40 pilgrims under Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, 62 under Raudah Al-Amin Sdn Bhd, 103 under Straits Central Agencies (B) Sdn Bhd (SCA), and 41 under At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sdn Bhd.
Numbering 246 in total, the pilgrims were accompanied by three officers from the Haj Medical Affairs.
The pilgrims were seen off at the Brunei International Airport by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and his spouse, Datin Hajah Nahriah binti Haji Hasbi.
Also present were Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB); Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar and his spouse; Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar and his spouse; Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali; Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam Emad bin Abdul Aziz bin Saad Al-Muhanna; as well as permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
