A Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) live exercise was conducted by petrol station officials to test the preparedness of some 100 staff including from a nearby fast
food restaurant yesterday.
The scenario involved several injuries reported following a fire at a fast food restaurant kitchen next to IBA petrol station in Kampung Lambak Kanan yesterday.
Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and RIPAS Hospital ambulance and paramedics were dispatched to the area.
Brunei Shell Marketing Sdn Bhd staff were also present. The area was cordoned with two fire engines and FRD personnel rescuing trapped staff and dousing the blaze.
The other injured staff from the petrol station and fast food restaurant were evacuated to the assembly area along with other staff for treatment.
The exercise tested the capability of Fire Marshals, the expertise and capability of the staff in the event of an emergency situation.
