Fire safety lessons for BIBD staff

Twenty staff and officers of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) participated in a three-day fire marshal course at the Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) building in the capital.

Conducted by Operation ‘A’ Branch Public Relations Division of the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), the course aimed at exposing participants to the importance of fire safety through theories and practical sessions.

Participants learnt about the causes of fire and how to evacuate a burning building in an orderly manner, especially at a workplace, as well as the proper way of using a fire extinguisher and fire blanket.

A visit to the FRD Women’s Operation Unit showed participants the functions of equipment used by firefighters.

The public can attend courses offered by the FRD, such as ‘Life Saver 995’ talk and Fire Marshal Course, to understand safety aspects during an emergency.
