Fire marshals to the fore

Eighteen personnel from the Ministry of Energy (ME) attended a fire marshal course at the Rimba Fire Station recently. The course was conducted by the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) Public Relations Division of Operation ‘C’ Branch.

Course participants were informed on the importance of workplace fire safety practices, and taught how to operate a fire extinguisher and systematically evacuate a building.

Meanwhile, the FRD Public Relations Division of Operation ‘G’ Branch recently trained 15 Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam (OBBD) officers at the Batang Duri OBBD Camp, on how to operate a fire extinguisher and rescue victims.

OBBD Operations Officer Haji Erwan bin Haji Mohd Said led the OBBD team.

A similar course was also held for 26 Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) personnel recently, organised by the FRD Headquarters’ Public Relations Division.

Participants visited the Women’s Operation Unit to learn more about the functions of female firefighters, and the equipment used.

FRD Information Technology Head Senior Superintendent Farhlim binti Abdul Baki and TAIB Headquarters Retail Banking Head Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Masri awarded certificates to the participants.

Meanwhile, the Bangar Fire Station hosted an educational visit from a delegation of 36 fire marshals from Abdul Razak Holdings.

Led by SO Hazwan bin Mawang, the delegation was briefed on the establishment of the FRD Operation ‘G’ Branch, the organisational structure, as well as tasks and roles of personnel.

The delegation also took a closer look at the rescue equipment.
