A vehicle was gutted by a fire in Kampong Parit on Tuesday following an accident with another vehicle.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), eight firefighters from Pengkalan Batu Fire Station Operation ‘F’ branch led by DSO Serudin bin Haji Osman responded to the incident after a distress call at 4.43pm.

At the scene of the incident, firefighters found the vehicle engulfed by flames while another was discovered in a ditch following the accident.

Both drivers who evacuated from the vehicles, were transported to the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.

Firefighters moved in to extinguish the vehicle fire, brought under control within a minute.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Firefighters dismantled the car battery from the other vehicle to prevent fire from spreading further.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The FRD advised the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition and to regularly check the vehicle pump for any leakages.

Road users must ensure that modifications or additions to the electrical system of the engine and car accessories are in accordance with standards.

The FRD also said high electric current could cause cables to burn.
