Some 102 students from the Haji Tarif Primary School and 84 from the Putat Primary School took part in a fire and building evacuation training recently.
The training was run by the Operation ‘D’ Branch Public Relations Division with ASO Murni bin Haji Maidin from Pelancaran Fire Station leading the training at the Haji Tarif Primary School, and DSO Maidin bin Haji Idris from Sungai Kebun Fire Station at Putat Primary School.
The training is held annually to ensure the schools’ emergency readiness during a fire, and to instil the importance of fire safety through theory and practice.
This includes ensuring the building is equipped with fire extinguishers and fire blankets, learning the procedures for saving oneself from getting trapped inside the school building, and the correct actions to take in the event of a fire by conducting systematic building evacuation drills.
