An SUV was destroyed after it caught fire around Jalan Utama Berakas on Saturday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said the incident was reported at 9.09am, involving a grey SUV.
Nine firefighters and two fire trucks were dispatched from the Berakas Fire Station’s Operation ‘C’ Branch led by SO Norhermi bin Md Nor.
FRD said the fire broke out while on the road, which forced the driver, a local citizen, to stop the car.
The front of the car was on fire when firefighters arrived.
The FRD said the team extinguished the fire using one hose reel and water from the fire truck tank. The cause and estimated damages are under investigation.
The FRD advised the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition and to regularly check the wiring system.
The public is also urged to inspect vehicles for any leakage from the pump that could cause flammable liquid to be ignited by the engine block or electrical system.
