Of the 68 businesses inspected, 23 were slapped with compound fines amounting to BND3,900 for violating directives and instructions implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country during the latest Ops Merati.
Health enforcement personnel under Health Enforcement Division of the Ministry of Health (MoH) found violations including lack of mask use among employees in food and health and beauty establishments, failure to conduct body temperature checks and not providing a BruHealth QR code.
According to the MoH, the inspections were carried out from December 7-13 in all four districts.
The operation targetted Berakas, Kiulap, Tanjung Bunut, Kota Batu, Serusop and Menglait in Brunei-Muara District. Tanjong Maya and Kampong Sengkarai in Tutong District were targetted. In Belait District, the operation focussed on Jalan Pretty and Kuala Belait.
Enforcement personnel also checked premises in Pekan Bangar, Kampong Negalang, Kampong Rataie and field of the Pekan Bangar Civic Centre Complex.
