Finally, a place to call home

    Izah Azahari

After spending time on the move, Misbah binti Haji Osman and family finally have a permanent place to call home.

Misbah received her house completion certificate under the Poor, Needy and Destitute Housing Assistance Project yesterday, during a ceremony at Kampong Mata-Mata.

Deputy State Mufti cum guest of honour Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin handed over the certificate, in his capacity as Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) member and a committee member of the Zakat Money Withdrawal.

The construction of the BND100,508.33 house was a collaborative effort between the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Ministry of Development.

Misbah, who works as a bus driver at the Sports School, expressed gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for the home gifted to her, adding that in the past, she and her family often had to move to different houses under Baitulmal and the Community Development Department (JAPEM).

The zakat distribution scheme for the construction of the home hopes to ease recipients’ burden and allow them greater comfort in performing acts of worship, while heightening their spirits to continue to strive to improve their standard of living.

His Majesty’s Government, through MUIB and other agencies, strives to alleviate the difficulties and hardship borne by the poor, needy and destitute.
