RESIDENTS in Tanah Jambu can subscribe to high-speed fibre optic (FTTH) Internet access, following the completion of installation works within the area, Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) announced.
Tanah Jambu is near the Salambigar Industrial Area, which accommodates several major foreign direct investment (FDI) companies.
As of last week, residents can experience TelBru’s broadband services which can cater up to a maximum speed of 300Mbps.
The company while continuing to navigate Brunei’s technological landscape to provide better Internet experiences towards Vision 2035, plans on delivering 1Gbps in the future.
The company aims to connect over 5,000 homes over the next few months under the accelerated Internet deployment which will join existing fibre optic subscribers that are benefitting from TelBru’s fibre grid.
The company over the next few months will announce more areas where fibre technology will be made available. The places include residential areas in Brunei-Muara and Temburong districts as well as an industrial site in Seria.
TelBru hopes to contribute to the economic growth of the Bruneians through increased access to business opportunities, education, and communication to the rest of the world.
Studies have shown that for every 10 per cent FTTH penetration to citizens, this has the potential to increase a country’s GDP per capita between 0.9-1.5 per cent through increased productivity at home and at work.
