MEMBERS of the public can enjoy the variety of delicacies available at the nightly festive stalls put up opposite the Royal Regalia Building in the capital as well as the variety of performances, as part of the celebration marking the 73rd birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The performances and festive stalls, which began on July 15, are aimed at enlivening the festive season and to provide members of the public a recreational spot to spend their evenings with friends and families.
In an interview with the Bulletin, Operating Chairperson of Riza Faudlana Management Services Pengiran Haji Haris bin Pengiran Haji Duraman shared this year has seen an increase in participants where 191 stalls were set up, including six stalls by the Mukim and Village Consultative Council (MPMK) showcasing various 1K1P local products.
“We also see an increase in youth participation this year. One such eatery stall is handled by graduates of Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) who are currently working at Royal Brunei Catering to try their hands in a different business environment.”
“Some of the stage activities and performances held every night include the Pentarama performance by the Information Department, Heritage Night by Canang Seri Mahkota Kumpulan Seni Budaya on July 22, Nostalgia Simfoni Irama by D’Simfoni 16 on July 27, Youth and Children Tradition Pop competition hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) on July 28 as well as International and ASEAN night on July 20.”
Youth entrepreneur Azyan Nazurah binti Haji Saini of RAZYSLUSH shared her happiness with the positive response for the festive stalls as the public can enjoy various delicacies available there.
MPK RPN Mengkubau representative Hajah Mardini binti Haji Mohd Noor said the festive stalls helped provide a platform for members to showcase and promote their products.
“We are showcasing kupang crispy, acar buah, serunding, kuah rojak and other traditional kueh-mueh and delicacies. Alhamdulillah we received a positive response from the public”.

A MEDLEY of modern and nostalgic pop songs started the nightly round of cultural and religious performances at the Tudong Saji Market in Kuala Belait on Tuesday, as part of the festivities marking the 73rd birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Witnessing the first-night performances organised by Talenthub Management was Secretary General of the Brunei Darussalam Ex-Army Association Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Ramli bin Haji Abdul Hadis.
Also present were Acting Village Head of Kampong Pandan ‘B’ Haji Malik bin Haji Abu Bakar; Acting Penghulu of Mukim Seria Haji Saidin bin Haji Ibrahim; and Senior Building Inspector at the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board Ramlee bin Haji Mohd Said.
Apart from nightly entertainments, a festive bazaar has also been set up in the area, featuring food-and-drink stalls, multi-seater bikes, bouncing castles and more.
The performances at the Tudong Saji Market will continue until July 30, while the festive bazaar will conclude on July 31.
