A father-daughter pair was indicted in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, to face charges of assaulting Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers and damaging the bureau’s vehicle.

Haji Shahrum bin Haji Shahbudin, 68, and Norshahiela binti Haji Shahrum, 31, were released on bail by Magistrate Dewi Norlelawati binti Haji Abdul Hamid, who ordered investigations to be completed before bringing the case back on February 25.

Haji Shahrum is alleged to have choked and pushed a male officer in Kampong Jangsak, Gadong, at 3.06pm on February 16.

He is also alleged to have assaulted the same officer by repeatedly hitting the front bonnet of the bureau’s vehicle, while the officer was seated inside.

Norshahiela, meanwhile, is alleged to have assaulted the same officer and two of his female colleagues, by repeatedly hitting the bureau’s vehicle with a broomstick. She is also said to have caused mischief by damaging the bureau’s vehicle.

Defence counsel Rozaiman bin Abdul Rahman is representing the defendants, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Raihan Nabilah binti Haji Ahmad Ghazali prosecuted the case.
