A FARM caretaker was sentenced to eight months in jail after he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to thieving from his employer.

The defendant, 36-year-old local Alimin bin Haji Damit @ Haji Awang Abdul Hamid (RBPF pic below), was employed to look after cattle and a farm at Kampong Tunggulian, Magistrate Kamaliah Fadhilah binti Haji Ibrahim heard.

DPP Hajah Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli further informed the court that the defendant cut up three large and five small aluminium tent frames which were used on the farm, and sold the metal to a scrapyard for BND47.

The defendant’s employer visited the farm on January 27 and found the tents missing.

He lodged a police report, with investigations eventually uncovering the defendant’s crime.

The defendant told the court that he used the money for personal use.
