The Pakistani expatriate community held a farewell reception in honour of the outgoing Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Ahmed Ali Sirohey at the Higher Café in Kiulap
last Saturday. Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong attended the reception.
On behalf of the Pakistani expatriate community, Dr Aftab Rana in his tribute to Sirohey said, “He worked hard to project his country by arranging exhibitions, catalogue shows and travel fairs in all four districts.”
“He also attended several events such as fundraisers for orphans and a blood donation campaign.”
“Apart from that, he also arranged 27 events and activities within just five months as acting high commissioner, in 2016,” Dr Aftab said.
“In 2019, 42 events such as university lectures, the Defence Academy, National Day, Independence Day and Defence Day celebrations were held.
“In addition, he also arranged art and culture exhibitions, variety shows, Iqbal Day, the Founder of Pakistan Day, Overseas Pakistan Day and Martyrs’ Day.”
Sirohey thanked the Pakistani expatriate community and his Bruneian friends, saying, “I tried my best to serve my nation.”
