AS PART of ongoing the Friends of Asia Pacific Region World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts’ (FAPW) fifth General Assembly in Brunei, some 50 members from 14 countries accompanied by members of Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam, visited Madu Kelulut Qana’ah (stingless bee) farm at Kg Tungku, Gadong.
The Royal Patron of the FAPW, Her Royal Highness Tunku Hajjah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Iskandar Ismail, the Crown Princess of Pahang, Malaysia was also present during the event.
The visit aimed to showcase one of Brunei’s unique ‘One Village, One Product’ (1K1P) products madu kelulut (stingless bee honey).
The visit began with welcoming remarks by Village Head of Kg Tungku and Kg Katok Haji Ismail bin Haji Rajab.
The participants then tried their hand at making traditional kueh and penyaram and tasted madu kelulut freshly harvested from one of the beehives.
The visit then continued with the presentation of a token of appreciation to the village head and presentation of mementos to the participants.
The FAPW, a membership scheme that was established in 1999, contributes towards the development and growth of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) through funding the development of girls and young women. The FAPW fifth General Assembly is currently being held in Brunei from March 12-15.
