National Family Day is a platform to deliver the message on the importance of familial harmony to overcome challenges and social ills.

This was said by Permanent Secretary (Community) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari at the National Family Day celebration committee meeting as co-chair of the National Family Day celebration committee 2023. She said the celebration is an initiative in the Plan of Action on Family under the National Council on Social Issues.

The permanent secretary encouraged all parties to join hands and work together to plan events at all levels, from private and village to national.

The meeting at the MCYS’ Digadong Hall was also co-chaired by Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim and Permanent Secretary (Municipal and District) at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Abdul Walid bin Haji Matassan.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam was also present.

The National Family Day, 11th this year, is celebrated on the first Sunday of May. This year’s theme is ‘My Family My Hope’ focussing on Bruneian family values of love, care, responsibility and respect.
