Fallen tree damages garage

James Kon

A firefighting team spent 45 minutes breaking down a collapsed 10-metre-tall tarap tree that had crashed into a home garage in Kampong Kenua, Temburong District recently. No injuries were reported.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), ABK 640 Christopher Jacklane bin Dawat led the six-men crew, where three chainsaws were brought in to dissect the 20-centimetre wide tree.

Acting Village Head of Kampong Lepong Baru Ambol anak Bakit was also present.

The FRD reminded the public to be on the alert for falling trees – especially during unpredictable weather, to refrain from planting trees close to their homes.

Motorists are also discouraged from parking their vehicles close to trees, while residents are urged to trim the overgrown branches.
