Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam

The sounds of takbir echoed throughout the morning as 1,000 Indonesian nationals gathered living and working in the Sultanate gathered on Monday to perform the Sunnat Hari Raya Aidiladha prayer.

The gathering at the Indonesian Embassy in Brunei Darussalam also saw a special lecture from Universiti Brunei Darussalam lecturer Dr Gamal Abdul Nasir bin Zakaria, who highlighted the events experienced by Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) and Prophet Ismail (pbuh).

“By performing korban, we are invited to surrender ourselves completely to Allah the Almighty,” said Dr Gamal Abdul Nasir.

“The purpose of performing korban is to elevate our dignity. The korban teaches us to be patient and tawakkal because even the thing we value the most becomes meaningless if it is asked for by Allah the Almighty.”

Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Dr Achmad Ubaedillah meanwhile called on his fellow countrymen in the Sultanate to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha in harmony with one another.

“I urge Indonesians living in Brunei to always follow and respect the rules set by the government. If there are any issues you don’t understand, please consult directly and immediately with the Indonesian Embassy,” said Dr Achmad Ubaedillah. – Lyna Mohamad
