Eleven compound fines were issued by the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) enforcement personnel to several business premises during a nationwide operation targetting restaurants, beauty and health establishments as well as barbershops yesterday.
Employees at these business premises were found to have violated the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) by not wearing face masks.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar urged restaurant owners to always comply with the rules and directives issued by the Ministry of Health.
Beauty and health establishments should also make it compulsory for employees to wear face masks and aprons.
“An offence under the Infectious Diseases Act (Chapter 204) carries a compound fine of up to BND5,000 or the offender can be prosecuted in court and on conviction can be fined up to BND10,000, or imprisoned up to six months or both. The ministry will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone who does not comply with the directives issued,” the minister said.
