Exhibition to showcase works by 81 artists

The Museums Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will launch a Diversity Art Exhibition featuring artworks by 81 local artists as well as an appreciation ceremony for retired officers and staff, at the Malay Technology Museum in Kota Batu.

This was announced by Acting Director of Museums Department Pengiran Hajah Mahani binti Pengiran Haji Ahmadi at the Brunei Darussalam National Archives building yesterday.

The events are organised in conjunction with International Museums Day on May 18 and International Archives Day on June 9.

Some 198 artworks will be on display for five months from November 28 to April 28, 2021.

Participating artists comprise 22 special needs individuals from Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam and Pusat Bahagia between nine and 32, 88 youth and adults between eight and 59 and 11 senior citizens between 60 and 80.

A presentation of certificates and trophies will be held for 20 retired officers and staff from the Museums Department and the Brunei Darussalam National Archives. Those with excellent Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) results between 2017 and 2019 will receive Exemplary
Employee Awards.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin will be the guest of honour at the presentation ceremony.

There will also be a Historical Video Exhibition from the Brunei Darussalam National Archives.
