Errant businesses fined

The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) issued nine fines to eight businesses for violating Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act in August.

The violations were discovered during a routine inspection by the department with other enforcement agencies in the Belait and Temburong districts.

Six businesses were fined BND500 and BND700 for overpricing price controlled items while three companies were fined BND500 for not displaying price tags.

Eight warnings were also issued to eight businesses in August for exceeding price ceiling and failing to display prices.
