The High Commission of Canada in Brunei Darussalam donated 39 books to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library on Wednesday aimed at providing UBD students with a selection of Canadian books on literature, science fiction, history and culture.

High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam Jeanette Stovel presented the books to UBD Vice-Chancellor Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz at the university’s library.

UBD is partnered with 18 higher education institutions in Canada through its membership of the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP) network, enabling student exchanges and other academic collaboration.

The institutions include Brock University, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Royal Roads University, Laurentian University and University of Northern British Columbia.

UBD academics have also applied for the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, a scholarship awarded to mid-career professionals from members of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for professional development through short-term courses in Canada.
