Brunei Council on Social Welfare
The Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) held an iftar through the ‘Sungkai with Clients’ project for 158 underprivileged clients from 22 families in Temburong District recently.
MKM previously carried out the project in Belait and Brunei-Muara districts, with last stop at Kampong Menunggol on May 8.
MKM President Yusof Halim said, “This is the first time we are able to do this event in Temburong District, made possible by the generosity of our donors and supporters.”
MKM has been carrying out the Ramadhan project for 11 years.
This year, the council will be treating 1,050 underprivileged clients to iftar.
The event also saw Yusof Halim and supporter of MKM’s charitable projects Haji Salim of Syarikat Waznah Zakat handing out Zakat and donations.
Each family also received a food hamper and two sets of clothing for Hari Raya.
Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects
Over 30 participants attended a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony organised by Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA) Brunei at the Ministry of Development Headquarters in Berakas yesterday.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, the guest of honour, was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Development Ar Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof.
PUJA President Ir Haji Mohammad Zin bin Haji Salleh was also present, along with other PUJA members and staff.
The ceremony was led by Imam Awangku Hassan Basri bin Pengiran Haji Ismail.
The institute has been active in conducting monthly events and programmes for its members – including Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses – as means of fostering professionalism and strengthening affiliations in the construction industry both nationally and internationally.
The event served as an opportunity for PUJA to promote the association’s aspirations while celebrating the holy month of Ramadhan as an institutional community.
The event saw a Tahlil ceremony, followed by the breaking of fast, and concluded with a mass Maghrib prayer.
Royal Brunei Armed Forces
The 79th intake of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), their commanders and trainers, recruited in September 1989, reunited for iftar at Jeruton Hotel in Jerudong on Monday.
The Commander of the 79th intake Major (Rtd) Haji Mahadi bin Dollah was the guest of honour.
The event also saw a Tahlil ceremony for former personnel and trainees who had passed away, and a presentation of souvenirs to Major (Rtd) Haji Mahadi.
Koperasi Ikatan Teluk Mewah
Koperasi Ikatan Teluk Mewah (ITM) held the opening ceremony of Khatam Al-Quran in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of its establishment at its Cooperative Petrol Station, Kampong Mentiri yesterday.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Head of Imam of Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque Pengiran Sallehin bin Pengiran Haji Tejudin.
Head of Religious Division at ITM Pengiran Haji Md Noor bin Pengiran Md Salleh said 30 participants comprising members of the board and administration of ITM, its shareholders and committee members, and members of the Tedarus Al-Quran of Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque participated in the recitation of 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran.
He also said the event was aimed at commemorating the ITM establishment and gaining rewards during the holy month of Ramadhan.
ITM Chairman Haji Hambali bin Tengah officiated as the guest of honour, followed by the recitation of Al-Quran verses by the participants and Doa Selamat by Imam of Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque Haji Shamsul bin Haji Abdul Latif.
The Khatam Al-Quran ceremony is to be held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Mentiri.
