Fifteen participants of the Youth Development Centre’s (PPB) ‘Light’s On’ entrepreneurship programme received certificates of completion during a ceremony at Jerudong Sports Complex on Thursday.
The programme under the Career and Entrepreneurship Unit of PPB was launched in 2019 to encourage entrepreneurship among youth and the community.
The fourth iteration of the programme began on March 28 and was carried out with LiveWire Brunei, a strategic partner of the PPB. It concluded in May.
The programme covered basic entrepreneurship, including business planning and financial management as well as advance topics on design, business models, raising capital, e-commerce, social media marketing, team management and pitching ideas.
On Thursday, five programme participants pitched business plans before a panel of judges from government-linked companies and industry experts, which included Ghanim International Corporation Sdn Bhd; Makan Ceria Sdn Bhd, Progresif Sdn Bhd and LiveWIRE Brunei.
The business ideas ranged from agrifood, beauty therapy and domestic water pipe installation to fashion design technology.
Procurement Manager from Ghanim International Corporation Sdn Bhd, Suserena binti Haji Hashim, who was the head judge, encouraged participants to collaborate with related stakeholders as well as other local entrepreneurs for businesses to be more viable with increased sustainability.
Best business plan presentation went to Sanisah anak Laju from Syarikat Sanisah Laju Enterprise; second place was Nuur Haziqah binti Haji Noor Hadi and Siti Nazirah binti Haji Mahali from Syarikat ZoHa HN Enterprise; and Hajah Jabie bin Haji Wen from Syarikat Rosbie came third.
Assistant Director Fauziah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the head of PPB was the guest of honour.
