Encouraging Al-Quran reading through religious ceremonies

The Community Development Department (JAPEM) organised a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for residents of the Welfare Home Complex recently.

Eleven male and seven female participants completed the recitation of Al-Quran via Zoom.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin attended as the guest of honour.

Also present were Permanent Secretary (Community and Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari as well as JAPEM’s Acting Director Pengiran Siti Rahmah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh and senior officers.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the minister, followed by the recitation of Al-Quran, Takhtim and Doa Khatam.

The event was further enlivened with Dikir Marhaban and concluded with a Doa Selamat and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam as well as Sayyidul Istighfar.

The ceremony aimed to improve the recitation of Al-Quran and encourage daily readings of Al-Quran.

Meanwhile, 41 members of the Wargamas Association concluded their Tedarus with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the association’s headquarters in Jalan Utama Berakas yesterday.

The ceremony also included the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah, and a handover of donations to orphans.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim attended as the guest of honour.

Twenty male and 21 female participants joined the Tedarus programme held over two weeks.

The ceremony also saw Haji Mohammad Rosli present donations to 31 orphans and certificates to the Tedarus participants.

The Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL) also held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at RPN Lambak Kanan on Thursday.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the association’s patron, Pengiran Haji Nordin bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, as the guest of honour.

Doa Khatam was recited by Mardiana binti Haji Redfin while Doa seeking protection against COVID-19 and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam were read by Permanent Chairman of PERBEKAL Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Pungut.

The ceremony also includedDikir Marhaban and Tahlil recitation and concluded with remarks from PERBEKAL President Pengiran Mahari bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Tahir.

Meanwhile, KEMUDA Institute held its 7th Khatam Al-Quran ceremony to mark Nuzul Al-Quran for 1443 Hijrah, at its Beribi campus.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mohammad Haziq Afiq bin Haji Mohammad followed by a welcoming speech by KEMUDA Institute Principal Khairy Yusrin bin Haji Abdul Salam.

The event proceeded with the recitation of Takhtim by the students and the recitation of Al-Quran verses led by Abang Mohammad Nurhamizan bin Abang Ahmad.

Lecturers, staff, parents and guardians continued with the sprinkling of scented flowers onto the Khatam participants, accompanied by the recitation of Dikir Marhaban to celebrate the students’ completion of Al-Quran recitation.

The ceremony also featured the recitation of Tahlil for the late son of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni

Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim.

A Tahlil was also recited for family members of staff and students that have passed.
