Emulate counterparts, new Mosque Youth group told

The newly formed Mosque Youth group should emulate their successful counterparts and implement teamwork, caring attitude and close ties among its members, said Acting Director of Mosque Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri.

He made this comment during the launching of Mosque Youth group Syababus Salam of Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.

Guest of honour Haji Amir Hisham said it is the 97th Mosque Youth being set up from 118 mosques nationwide where its membership has reached 2,740.

Based on last year’s report, Mosque Youth groups have carried out many activities with the cooperation of mosque committee members and Mosque Affairs Department through its ‘Imarah’ Unit.

Haji Amir Hisham said the activities included lectures, workshop/forum, nightly vigil or Qiamullail, competitions and community work.

The guest of honour presented the letters of appointment.

Meanwhile, the Mosque Affairs Department said the youth are a priceless asset of a country.

The formation of the Mosque Youth group is to answer His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah to produce pious and proactive youth.

The Mosque Youth group will strengthen ties with the mosque officers, assist them in attracting more congregants, especially to Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque and to assist mosque officials to outline programmes.
