Employers need to monitor the employees’ welfare as well as be aware of their whereabouts according to the Employment Order 2009 and other laws and regulations to avoid legal consequences.
These were highlighted during a roadshow by the Labour Department in collaboration with law enforcement agencies including the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit under the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED).
The event, held on Saturday at the Labour Department, was aimed at raising awareness among employers of their responsibilities towards their employees.
