AN APPRECIATION night was recently held for the employees of Germanischer Lloyd Offshore and Industrial Services (B) Sdn Bhd, which operates as DNV GL (B) in Brunei Darussalam.
The company’s Managing Director John Brown Carnachan and Contract Manager Chua Kim Phong welcomed the guest of honour Mohd Noor bin Bujang at the V-Plaza Hotel in Kuala Belait.
Chua outlined various achievements made by their employees in various aspects, such as Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), quality, operations, and Local Business Development (LBD).
“The company is grateful for the vision of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on local training and development and our client Mohd Noor’s tremendous support in working jointly as the enabler for the realisation of the LBD programme,” he said.
Chua also highlighted the company’s various LBD achievements – 19 local inspection engineer trainees, six local lifting inspector/surveyor trainees and two local quality control surveillance engineer trainees received international-level qualifications.
Out of the 27 trainees under the LBD programme, eight have already graduated and achieved their development goals.
The remaining 19 are still undergoing vigorous training in the development scheme.
The speech was followed with the presentation of awards to the employees who had made great efforts in helping the company to face the challenges in ensuring a safe and efficient workflow.
The event was further enlivened with fun activities including a lucky draw and song-and-dance performances.
