Thirty-eight students from the Brunei Maritime Academy (BMA) under the Institute of Brunei Technical Education Jefri Bolkiah Campus (IBTE JBC) attended an Injury Prevention Workshop at the campus’ School of ICT on Tuesday.
HSE representatives from Schlumberger Brunei organised the talks to instil a ‘safety first’ mindset, highlighting the importance of personal safety in areas such as safe manual lifting, fatigue management, working ergonomics and the use of tools. It also coached the students on safety behaviours as well as adapting safe practices in the work place and at home.
HSE Consultant Johnny Yap and HSE Specialist Hajah Asimah binti Haji Mokti facilitated the workshop for students pursuing IBTE Diploma in Marine Engineering, IBTE Diploma in Nautical Studies, Deck Rating and Engine Rating.
An IBTE JBC representative presented certificates of appreciation to the facilitators.
